Camaleo
CINEMA
Camaleo is a film production company founded in Rome in 2007 by Gabria and Roberto Cipullo. From the outset, Camaleo’s production activity has been driven by the goal of creating high-quality content accessible to a wide audience. Success came early with major international productions, including “The Color of Freedom – Goodbye Bafana”, based on the life of Nelson Mandela.
In 2009, the company shifted its focus to Italian cinema, producing both entertaining and high-quality films. “Outing – Fidanzati per sbaglio”, starring Massimo Ghini, Nicolas Vaporidis and Giulia Michelini, was released in theaters in 2012.

Murray Abraham alongside Danny Glover.

MAKING CINEMA WHILE RESPECTING THE ENVIRONMENT

THE GREEN LIGHT
Camaleo Srl has since its foundation been a company in the audiovisual sector that has made green policy one of its cornerstones. In 2017, “Sconnessi” was the first Italian film to adopt the protocol for making an eco-sustainable film according to the Trentino Film Commission’s protocol: “Green film.” Participation in this project started an ecological journey within both Camaleo, but it also marked the turning point for all Italian cinema. Starting in 2018, Camaleo, is committing to adopt not only on set, but also within its own premises, environmentally friendly and cost-saving policies. First of all, it is proceeding with the elimination of archives in analog format, favoring digital archiving. With the introduction of electronic invoicing in 2019, all administration archives are eminently in digital format; a circumstance that has also enabled the development of the possibility of remote work, further increasing the use of cloud storage services from 2020 onward. In addition, the company performs outreach work on waste reduction and recycling collection.
Attention to environmental issues is particularly relevant in the set preparation work, despite the countless difficulties caused by Covid. After the long period of stalemate related to the lockdown and following the June 20 signing of the agreement between the industry associations and Anica, Camaleo did not sit idly by and continued its “green line” by timidly restarting on the set of the first post-lockdown film “Io & Angela” and with more advanced planning with “Tutti per Uma,” Susy Laude’s debut feature, followed the lesson of Green Film while espousing the EcoMuvi specification. EcoMuvi is a protocol that promotes the prevention and reduction of environmental and social impacts related to audiovisual production.
Our company fully embraces the EcoMuvi protocol through its eco-sustainability project that focuses on many shared aspects including: the reuse of materials, the reduction of waste by promoting its placement in the appropriate containers and, with regard to food baskets, the choice of catering that uses compostable and recyclable products; transportation is minimized by placing base camp and hotel facilities at short distances from the set. In 2022, with the film Double Soul, the company has decided to make an even greater commitment to the application of green policies, implementing a far more complex production than its predecessors, with a much larger number of locations and a more extensive organization, always in compliance with environmentally friendly policy.
