GOODBYE BAFANA
South Africa-1968.
Twenty-five million blacks are ruled by a minority of 4 million whites who have imposed the Nationalist Party’s brutal Apartheid regime. Perched on their positions of absolute power, the whites forbid blacks to organize in any form of opposition, forcing their leaders into exile or life imprisonment on Robben Island. James Gregory, a typical white Afrikaner, regards blacks as subhuman. Raised on a farm in the Transkei, he learned to speak the Xhosa language, that of blacks, when he was a child. This makes him the ideal person to become the prison guard for Mandela and his Robben Island companions.
